1. Structural Steel / Misc. Metals and Stair Estimator

Fought is currently recruiting for a motivated individual to join our Estimating Family. This is a great opportunity to join a local, well established construction company in the Portland Metro area.

We are open to hearing from applicants from diverse backgrounds of experience and education, but as a minimum, we are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

qualifications & duties include

(Preferred, But Not Required Education and Experience)

  • AAS degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or Building Construction Technology or other industry-related college degree. Combinations of experience and education will also be considered.

  • 1-10 years of experience in commercial construction (ideally structural steel, miscellaneous metals and steel stairs) in the role of an Estimator is preferred.

  • Experience w/ 3D modelling and design software such as Tekla BIMsight, is preferred, but not required.

  • Preparation of construction estimates, project RFP and specification review and writing of steel erection bid proposals through the use of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, MS Project), Fabsuite, Tekla BIMsight, Bluebeam and other Estimating platforms.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret construction drawings, logistics plans, schedules and construction budget information.

  • Participation in project planning and representation of the company in meetings with clients.

  • Close Coordination with team estimators and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Occasional travel to project sites to investigate construction problems & schedule issues.

  • Maintaining contact with clients & tracking potential project leads for future work.

2. QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR/CWI

Fought is currently recruiting for a Certified Welding Inspector to join our team for a day or swing shift position at our facility.  We offer a dynamic benefits package which includes a generous Profit Sharing Trust Plan; 53rd Week Bonus Plan; 401k; paid time off, excellent medical/dental insurance and opportunity for growth.

qualifications & duties include

  • Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

  • Experience working with one or more of the following American Welding Society (AWS) codes: D1.1, D1.5, D1.8

  • Experience with dimensional inspection

  • Experience conducting and witnessing welding procedure qualification and welder qualifications

  • Past Experience/Certification as American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Ultrasonic Testing/Shear Wave and Straight Beam

  • Magnetic Particle Testing/Yoke method

  • Dye Penetrant Testing (optional)

  • Radiographic Testing (optional)

  • Radiographic film interpretation (optional)

  • Ability to work independently to established procedures

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills

  • 1-5 years experience in Quality Control

  • The ability to pass a drug screen

  • Active participant in continuous improvement efforts that further the company values and efficiency of people and processes within the company

  • Knowledge of AISC requirements is preferred

  • Knowledge of RCSC specifications for High-Strength Bolts (ICC certification) is preferred

  • Knowledge of SSPC Good Painting Practices (SSPC C1 certification) is preferred

  • Knowledge of material specifications (ASTM) is preferred

  • Knowledge of welding specifications (AWS) is preferred

  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Experience in a fabrication environment, preferably production shop or general contractor companies

  • Knowledge of software program FabSuite is preferred

physical demands

  • Physical demands of position will require the ability to maneuver in a shop or yard assembly environment. Extensive walking and standing, climbing on ladders, scaffolding, crouching, twisting, and stooping are often encountered. Must be able to assist with the manipulation of tooling and equipment.

  • The work environment can be physically demanding as well as in the proximity of moving equipment and cranes. Constant awareness of peripheral activity is necessary, with a mindfulness of not only personal safety, but the safety of people in the vicinity, and product and shop equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
