1. Field Erection Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a motivated individual interested in taking on the role of Project Engineer to assist with the Hayward Field Stadium project located in Eugene, Oregon. The Field Erection Project Engineer will be located at the job site in Eugene and will provide real time assistance to ensure the ongoing progress of this exciting and challenging erection project.

qualifications & duties include

  • Interpretation of construction drawings as it relates to the project.

  • Reading and understanding project specifications and contract documents.

  • Assist with creating/writing change orders and learning to identify changes and project impacts.

  • Daily coordination with field superintendents, suppliers, and other trades to ensure projects remain on track and on budget.

  • Participation in project planning and representation of the company in meetings with clients.

  • Ongoing communication with the Fought fabrication team.

  • Occasional travel to our headquarters in Tigard, Oregon to investigate construction problems and schedule issues.

  • Identifying hazards, site obstacles, and difficulties at the project location.

education & experience

  • 2 years of education beyond High School in Engineering, Structural or Architectural Drafting, or construction related field.

  • Relevant work experience (preferably in the steel industry) will be considered in lieu of the above education requirements.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret construction drawings, logistics plans, CPM schedules and construction budget information.

  • Capable of understanding engineering terminology.

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with onsite staff and those working at Fought/REFA headquarters.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Familiar with software such as Bluebeam, Viewpoint and construction modeling software.

  • Strong attention to details, ability to multi-task, highly organized, computer and tech savvy.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team orientated environment with office and field staff.

  • Professionalism, great work ethic, and excellent client customer service are critical in this role.

2. QUALITY assurance manager

Fought is currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at our structural steel fabrication facility.  We offer a dynamic benefits package which includes a generous Profit Sharing Trust Plan; 53rd Week Bonus Plan; 401k; paid time off, excellent medical/dental insurance and opportunity for growth.

job duties include

  • Ongoing maintenance of the company’s Quality Assurance Manual

  • Maintaining company certifications, i.e.; AISC, WABO, etc.

  • Management and direction of Quality Control personnel and activities

  • Ensuring compliance of QC inspections to Contract requirements

  • Development of the following documents for submittal and approval in accordance with job specific contract specifications and special provisions:

  • Weld procedures

  • Paint plans

  • Process Control procedures

  • Quality Control procedures

  • Quality Assurance Manual

  • Liaison with Customer and 3rd party inspectors

  • Reviewing and maintaining material certificates, i.e.; raw steel; bolts, coatings, etc.

  • Development of final cert packets for submittal to Customer

  • Review of shop drawings prior to issue for compliance and value engineering

  • Work closely with the Purchasing, Preconstruction, Production, Erection, and Complex Coating departments to exceed customer expectations, meet project schedules, and maintain budget

qualifications & duties include

  • Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

  • Experience working with one or more of the following American Welding Society (AWS) codes: D1.1, D1.5, D1.8

  • Knowledge of American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) requirements

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills

  • 3-5 years experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance

  • The ability to pass a drug screen

  • Knowledge of AISC requirements is preferred

  • Knowledge of RCSC specifications for High-Strength Bolts (ICC certification) is preferred

  • Knowledge of SSPC Good Painting Practices (SSPC C1 certification) is preferred

  • Knowledge of material specifications (ASTM) is preferred

  • Knowledge of welding specifications (AWS) is preferred

  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Experience in a fabrication environment, preferably production shop or general contractor companies

  • Knowledge of software program FabSuite is preferred

physical demands

  • Physical demands of position will require the ability to maneuver in a shop or yard assembly environment. Extensive walking and standing, climbing on ladders, scaffolding, crouching, twisting, and stooping are often encountered. Must be able to assist with the manipulation of tooling and equipment.

  • The work environment can be physically demanding as well as in the proximity of moving equipment and cranes. 3. QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR/CWI

  • Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

  • Experience working with one or more of the following American Welding Society (AWS) codes: D1.1, D1.5, D1.8

  • Experience with dimensional inspection

  • Experience conducting and witnessing welding procedure qualification and welder qualifications

  • Past Experience/Certification as American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Ultrasonic Testing/Shear Wave and Straight Beam

  • Magnetic Particle Testing/Yoke method

  • Dye Penetrant Testing (optional)

  • Radiographic Testing (optional)

  • Radiographic film interpretation (optional)

  • Ability to work independently to established procedures

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills

  • 1-5 years experience in Quality Control

  • The ability to pass a drug screen

4. Senior Project Manager

qualifications & duties include

  • Work closely with the Purchasing, Preconstruction, Production, Erection, and Complex Coating departments to exceed customer expectations, meet project schedules, and maintain budget 

  • Generate and maintain project schedule, identifying key milestones and critical path

  • Create and manage subcontracts to support project scope of work 

  • Delegate work to Project Engineers, Expeditors, Superintendents, and other project staff 

  • Reviews RFIs, ASIs, and revised structural/landscape/architectural drawings for scope of work impact. Pricing and issuing change order requests generated by design drawing and RFI contract modifications

  • Generate and respond to RFIs regarding structural steel & miscellaneous steel details 

  • Manage decking, stair, coating, miscellaneous metals, detailing, and other subcontractors, shop drawing , quality, and engineering submittals

  • 4 years of work experience in the steel erection, steel fabrication, or related industries as a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or Project Manager

  • 2 years of education beyond high school in Engineering, Construction Management, or Drafting (preferred but not required)

  • Capable of interpreting contract language, construction drawings, and understand basic engineering terminology

  • Strong attention to details, ability to multi-task, highly organized, computer and tech savvy

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team oriented office environment
